Good will Hunting

Movie Review:

The movie chosen here to jot our review has the title GOOD WILL HUNTING. This title is based on the name of one of the main characters, WILL HUNTING. This movie hit the cinema theatres on December 2, 1997. This is an American movie, directed by Gus Van Sant, produced by Lawrence Bender with the production company be Gentlemen within the budget of 10 million USD. It made 225.8 million US dollars on box office being one of the biggest hits of the year. Not only had this but the film got many awards including the Academy Awards for Best Screenplay Original. In addition to that this film was awarded with European Film Academy Achievement in World Cinema Award, Humanities Prize for Feature Film and many more. The film features Matt Damon as Will Hunting, the main lead of the story; Ben Affleck as Chuckie Sullivan, friend of Will Hunting; Robin Williams as Dr. Sean Maguire, therapist of will hunting and last but not the least, Stellan Skarsgard as professor Gerald lambeau.

The movie circulates around a boy with extremely super genius math skills, Will Hunting, in his young adulthood who works as a janitor at a local college. He solved the mathematical problem that no one had been able to solve, after which the professor found him, recognized his talent and asked him to work with him. The story unfolded itself at the climax when the therapist found out that the boy has been severely abused as a child and had been in trouble with the law ever since.

In my personal opinion, the movie was worth watching. The characters were well defined and the actors did justice to their characters. It was a very well-written plot by Matt Damon (Will Hunting) and Ben Affleck (Chuckie Sullivan). The way that the past was reviled was gradual and interesting. This one of those movies with the strong climax where Will was completely vulnerable, cleaned up his act, participated, looking for a job, and getting the job, and going to find the girl he loved and commit to her. Most of the scenes in the movie was well acted and directed. The shots were taken precisely with the best possible camera angles. The music addition and the lightening close-ups at the right time and other cinematographic techniques were well settled and done. Coming to the choice of actors, Matt Damon was the best option. Nobody could have done it better anyways. The getup of the professor was very well on point and the therapist. They paid justice to the characters of their choice. The therapist was shown as calm as in real life should be and the professor as composed and gentle as one should be.

In the essence of all, it has been a great movie with a great storyline and actors. The plot and the climax were well written, directed and acted. In short, it is a movie worth appreciation. The end of this movie tells us that will is finally willing to embrace the uncertainties of life and put his heart on the line to be with someone he loves. Hence will be used to be closed off and had attachment issues. Which is a good message to the audience in terms of being positive and giving a chance to the people you care for and love. the drama was quite expressive and brilliant if we look past some of the cons. It was heartfelt and delivered somewhat of a good moral. It had just the right amount of climax and just the right amount of sensitivity as well as humor. On this note, it is concluded that Good Will Hunting can be recommended by anyone to everyone.
