 About Movie:

The Godfather was directed by Francis Ford Coppola as an inspiration from the novel “The Godfather” written by Mario Puzo in 1969. It lies under the genres of crime and drama. This movie is about the Corleone family featuring Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando), the Don of the Corleone family, who surpasses his matters to his son Michael Corleone (Al Pacino), who isn’t fond of such type of matters.

The movie begins with wedding of Vito Corleone’s, Don of the Corleone family, daughter named Connie. The wedding takes place in 1945 in New York. At her wedding, her father, Vito Corleone, is open to accepting requests as proposed by guests. Michael takes this opportunity to introduce his girlfriend, Kay Adams. John Fontane, Vito’s grandson asks to help him in achieving a role in a movie at Jack Woltz studio. Vito sends Tom Hagen, his consigliere, to pay Woltz a visit.

After the wedding, during Christmas Sollozzo from the Tattaglia family requested Vito for investing in his business. Vito refused as this would lead to a great disadvantage for Vito’s other political matters and morals as well. Vito afraid of Sollozzo betraying him, sends Luca Brasi to spy on him. Sollozo and Bruno tattaglia kill Brasi. Sollozo also captures Hagen and shoots Vito openly in the street. Initially, Sonny Corleone, the eldest son of the Corleone family takes control of the family. Sollozo blackmails Hagen into making Sonny accept his offer. During the shootout, Vito ends up surviving and is on bed rest at a hospital. During his stay there, there is another attempt from Sollozzo to kill Vito Corleone which is dodged by Michael Corleone. After this Michael requests to guard his father at the hospital but is turned down by Sollozzo’s men in the NYPD, when Michael asks the reason along with how much he was paid, the NYPD’s officer hits Michael. As a reply, Sonny takes a hit on Tattaglia’s son.

By such acts, war and chaos had struck between the Five Families which left Vito Corleone fearing for his family. Vito sends Michael to spend time in Sicily whereas the other brother Fred stays in Las Vegas with Moe Greene. Connie’s husband Carlo abuses her which leads to Sonny attacking him, on his way back Sonny is ambushed and violently shot down by other gangsters. 

After his son’s death, Vito traumatized decides to end the feud between the Corleone and Tattaglia families. He offers to take back his refusal from the narcotics business and vengeance of Sonny’s death. Shortly after, Michael returned after it was safe and married Kay and had 2 children afterwards. Vito was closing day by day to death and Fredo being too weak to handle serious matters left Michael in charge of the family reins that later shifted the family business to Las Vegas. Michael after travelling to Las Vegas hoped to buy Moe Greene’s business in casinos; it was to his surprise when he saw that Fredo favored Greene more than Michael.

In 1955, before Vito died of a heart attack he warned Michael that whosoever tried to convince him to make deals with Barzini was a traitor and disloyal. During Vito Corleone’s funeral, Tessio told Michael to meet up with Barzini, this meant he was a traitor. Michael told him to set the meeting on Connie’s baby’s baptism. When Michael was present as Connie’s baby’s godfather, his hitmen murdered Greene and other dons in New York as well as Tessio. Carlo also confessed to being a part of Sonny’s murder after which Carlo is killed by Clemenza. Connie further accuses Michael of murdering her husband and tells Kay. When Kay confronts Michael, he tells her to stay out of the family business and closed his office door on her.
