The Hateful Eight

 About Movie:

The hateful eight or the h8ful eight was written and directed by Quentin Tarantino in 2015. This American Western film lies under the genres of drama, crime, Western and mystery. This movie consists of two bounty hunters (Kurt Russell, Samuel L. Jackson), a prisoner (Jennifer Jason Leigh) and a man who claims to be a sheriff (Walton Goggins) along with 4 other strangers. These 8 travelers have stopped at a stagecoach stopover located far from other towns in means of finding shelter from a blizzard. Upon discussions and hatred being developed amongst the 9, they come to realize that no one might be able to reach their desired destinations.

During the cold winter season of Wyoming in the year 1877, a bounty hunter, who was an ex Veteran Major by the name Marquis Warren (Samuel) is on his way to Red Rock along with 3 corpses as his bounty. As a blizzard is coming and he’s left with no other options as his horse dies, he hitchhikes a ride of some stagecoach in which another bounty hunter John “the Hangman” Ruth (Kurt) is riding handcuffed to his prisoner Daisy Domergue (Jennifer) also on their way to Red Rock for Daisy to be hanged. Although Ruth has his doubts of letting Marquis ride in his stagecoach, he lets him in due to a letter from Abraham Lincoln showed to him by Marquis. On their way to Red Rock, they come across Chris Mannix (Walton), a man who claims to be the new sheriff of Red Rock. On their ride, Ruth comes to learn from Mannix, Warren and Domergue that Warren is also wanted for escaping and burning a war prisoner.

To seek refuge from the blizzard, this lot decides to take shelter at Minnie’s Haberdashery. As they enter, they are welcome by a Mexican named Bob who claims he is in charge of Minnie’s Haberdashery as she left him in charge. There are others staying in the haberdashery as well, including Oswaldo Mobray, Joe Gage and General Sanford Smithers. 

After sometime, Mannix claims that Warren’s Linvoln letter is false to which Warren admits and replies that it his form of license with whites. Shortly, Warren further provokes Smithers to attack him as Warren confesses to have murdered, sexually assaulted and ambushed his son. As Smithers reaches to kill him, Warren goes first. This was a form of revenge for execution of blacks during the war.

Ruth and O.B (driver of stagecoach) end up drinking poisoned coffee. Ruth in his last breath attacks Daisy who shoots him. Warren and Mannix, chain Daisy to dead Ruth. Warren also kills Bob as comes to realize that Bob had been lying because Minnie hated Mexicans. Furthermore, Warren threatens to shoot Daisy in order to find who poisoned the coffee. Gage confesses shortly, after which an unknown character (Jody, Daisy’s brother) hidden in the basement shoots Warren in the groin. Mannix counter-shoots and wounds Mobray.

Daisy, Gage, Mobray and Jody are part of a gang all wanted as bounty. They offer a deal to Mannix, claiming the rest of their gang is waiting at Red Rock. They want Mannix to shoot Warren after which they’ll spare him.

Warren shoots Mobray, Gage is shot as soon as he picks his gun. Warren attempts to shoot Daisy but has zero bullets. Mannix refuses to shoot daisy and listens to the deal being offered by Daisy. As Daisy fails to outsmart Mannix, he becomes unconscious due to blood loss leaving Warren and Daisy. Daisy frees herself from the cuffs tied to Ruth in attempt to shoot Warren at which moment Mannix wakes up. Mannix and Warren end up hanging Daisy. The movie ends with Mannix reading Warren’s Lincoln letter out loud.
