About movie:
Wazir is a 2016 Indian Hindi-language action thriller film directed by Bejoy Nambiar and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The leading actors include Farhan Akhtar, who plays the role of a cop, and Amithabh Bachan acting as a Chess master.
The story starts when Danish( Farhan Akhtar) chases a terrorist, but unfortunately in the whole action, his daughter is killed by the firing of the terrorists. After this incident, his wife becomes really sad and decides to go away from Danish, and starts living in a different place. Danish tries his best to placate Ruhana, his wife, but in vain.
Danish is informed by his sources that the same terrorist is hiding at an abondoned building, so he goes after him and kills him, but it turns out to be a blunder because that terrorist was supposed to be caught alive. As a result of this huge mistake, Danish is suspended from his service, and he tries to commit suicide a few times. After this, Danish comes across a Pandit( Amitabh Bachan) who teaches chess to children. Danish develops a strong intimacy for Pandit, and starts learning chess. Pandit’s daughter was murdered by Qureshi, a very influential Kashmiri Minister.
Pandit Ji is attacked by a mysterious person Wazir because of his actions against Qureshi. The Wazir threatens the Pandit and asks him to stop accusing Qureshi for his daughter’s murder, but Pandit Ji is a very stubborn soul. He wants to avenge the murder of his only daughter, but he’s a handicapp and uses a wheelchair. Danish often tries to stop Pandit Ji from these thoughts of revenge, but Pandit Ji never lends him an ear in this regard.
The Wazir attacks Pandit Ji and he suffers a great deal of injuries. Danish starts tracing the Wazir, but he couldn’t. After a while, Pandit Ji is killed in a bomb blast by the Wazir, and Danish decides to avenge his death. Danish thinks that Qureshi is behind all this scenario, so he visits his friend in Kashmir for the sake of killing Qureshi.
Danish attacks Qureshi in a political procession and before killing him asks about the Wazir, but Qureshi has no knowledge about Wazir. Danish successfully kills him, and there he comes to know that Qureshi was a Kashmiri Terrorist but he had disguised himself as an oppressed civilian and claimed huge fame after creating a fake story. The media discloses this story and people come to know about the reality of Qureshi.
After this, Danish attends a show that was organised by Pandit Ji. In this play, the importance of a pawn is highlighted in the game of chess.
Pandit Ji uses himself as a pawn, and kills the influential politician Qureshi through Danish. At that moment Danish finds out a USB in which Pandit Ji has recorded a video message for him. In that message Pandit Ji tells Danish about his planning. The Wazir didn’t exist; it was an imaginary character developed by Pandit Ji in order to aggravate Danish against Qureshi. Pandit Ji finally kills himself and gives his death a colour of murder. Danish thinks that Pandit Ji is killed by Wazir, who works for Qureshi, so he goes on and kills Qureshi for the sake of avenging the murder of Pandit Ji. But then he comes to know that Pandit Ji created this whole plan, so that Danish would kill Qureshi and the murder of Pandit’s daughter would be avenged.
This movie contains a lot of suspense and thrill, and the viewer keeps guessing till the very end. It has a famous dialogue of Pandit Ji that is quoted below;
“You'll learn the game when you play the game ... when you win and lose, then winning will teach you losing ... when you play the game.”
